Robert A. Brown, Chairman. A Personal Financial Planner (CFP) Bob has been identified with platform tennis as a player and administrator since 1969. He was educated at the University of Virginia and earned his MBA at Harvard Business School. He served on the Board of Directors of the APTA for 22 years, including positions as Treasurer, Rules & Equipment Chairman, Hall of Fame Committee Chairman and President (1973-1975). He was elected to the Hall of Fame in 1993. He authored the booklets, “The Etiquette of Platform Tennis” and “How to Conduct a Tournament Draw”. The transition to the color yellow for the ball was influenced by him and he was a leading proponent of the no-let on net cord service rule change. He has won nineteen Senior Men’s National Championship titles, eight of which were with Don Hyde, in whose memory the “Hyde Cup” was contributed to the APTA. |

Richard Lombard, President. Retired after owning and managing a sales seminar business in New York City where he resides. A Williams College graduate, he recently edited his class’s 50th Anniversary reunion yearbook. He has been a Director of the APTA for ten years in two separated terms. His assignment in the recent term was as Senior Men’s Tournament Coordinator. In his role as President of the Foundation, he is actively involved in its fund raising and museum development. The Hudson River Men’s and Mixed tournaments were his creations. He has also developed a 125+ age Men’s tour on the east coast. He has won six Senior Men’s National Championships. The “best”, he states, came 90 days after a quadruple by-pass heart operation! |

Charles B. Updike, Vice President and General Counsel. An attorney with Schoeman, Updike & Kaufman in New York City, he currently resides in New Rochelle, New York. He grew up at the Fox Meadow Tennis Club in Scarsdale, NY and vividly remembers assisting with the annual maintenance of the wooden platform tennis courts as a child. Formerly he was a member of the Huntington, Long Island Winter Club where he won the club championship and some other local tournaments. Now he is a member of the Scarsdale Golf Club where he plays both golf and platform tennis. He has partnered with Bruce Bernann in Men’s Senior tournaments for the past 20 years. |

Joseph Rogers, Treasurer. A Chemical engineer, he earned degrees in Edinburgh and MIT. A resident of Greenwich, Connecticut, he has served as President of the Fox Meadow Tennis Club, the Home of Platform Tennis, in Scarsdale, New York. A member of the APTA Board of Directors from 1997 to 2004, he served as Treasurer and was a member of the Rules and Equipment Committee. He chaired the 1994 Men’s APTA Nationals, which were held at the Fox Meadow Tennis Club, and has been actively involved in conducting the Men’s Senior National tournaments held annually also held there. |

Charles E. Vasoll, Secretary. Residing in East Williston, Long Island, New York, he is a retired bank officer. A graduate of Hofstra College (now University) in 1951, he majored in Accounting. Since 1985 he has been a Director of the Long Island Platform Tennis Association with a term as President and twelve years as Treasurer. In 1987 he was elected to the Board of Directors of the APTA and served until 2000. In 1988, he was elected APTA President and held that post until 1992. He was the second individual to serve in that office for four years. The first was the co-inventor of the sport, Fessenden Blanchard. He also served as a Director and Secretary of the Cherry Valley Club in Garden City. It was the host club of the 2002 APTA National Championships for which he was Chairman. Inducted into Platform Tennis Hall of Fame in 2005. |

Tim McAvoy, Trustee. Raised and still residing in Phoenixville, PA (25 miles NW of Philadelphia), he is a Principal at Marvin and Palmer Associates, a money management firm. In 1980 he graduated from Pennsylvania State University. His mother, Lucie Bel, an inductee into the Platform Tennis Hall of Fame in 1992, introduced him to platform tennis. From 1999 to 2006, he was an APTA Board Member as President of Region III and has played on that Region’s very successful President’s Cup team in many of the last 25 years. In 1993 and 1994 partnered with Diane Tucker, he won the National Mixed Doubles titles. With John Adams, in 2004, he was the Men’s 45’s National Champion. |

Howard A. Patterson, Jr. Trustee and Architectural Advisor. An Architect, returning to in his own practice in 2006, he established his former firm of Patterson Architects, Darien CT in 1972. He graduated from Williams College, Bachelor of Arts, Cum Laude, Phi Beta Kappa in 1957 and continued his education at the Massachusetts Institute of Technology, earning a Bachelor of Architecture in 1960. He has been a Director and President of the American Institute of Architects (AIA) in Connecticut; Chairman of the AIA New England Honor Awards Program and a Member of the Panel of Arbitrators, American Arbitration Association. He began playing platform tennis in the 60’s and won five Middlesex Club Championships in the 70’s with Stewart Lang. In 1981, they moved to the Woodway Country Club and won its club championship. He partnered with Rich Lombard or Edward Hughes in many Senior age level National Championships. He resides in West Norwalk, CT. |

David Childs, Trustee. Residing in New Hartford, Connecticut, he is a retired commercial real estate broker. Mexico City College, Mexico awarded him a Bachelor of Arts degree in economics. He served on the APTA Board of Directors for six years with responsibility for Senior age tournaments. He as won 15 National Championships, many with his brother, William. They were elected to the Platform Tennis Hall of Fame in 2005, the first brother team to be so honored. He has organized and conducted several national Championship and local tournaments. |

Alice Duff, Trustee. In the real estate business for 24 years and currently working for Sotheby’s International Realty in Greenwich, CT, she graduated from Smith College in 1965 with a Bachelor of Arts degree. A resident of Greenwich for 39 years, she grew up in Sewickley, PA, which is now also a “hotbed” of platform tennis. After playing a lot of Junior tennis including Junior Wightman Cup and Nationals, she was introduced to platform tennis in Greenwich and played there with several National Champions. She served on the APTA Women’s Players Committee, (chaired by Nancy Mangan) and has conducted local and national tournaments and leagues in Greenwich. She won the CT State Ladies Doubles in the late 70’s with Nancy Harris and later in the 80’s and 90’s with Leslie Pierpont. She played on the Region I President’s Cup teams with Connie Jones and Leslie Pierpont and was team Captain several times. She also competed in and sometimes won Mixed Age group events with Bruce Bernann, David Childs or Phil Hempleman as partners. |
